Hi All,
So after two days of holding steady in Woodward Oklahoma it looks like we might have some credible storms to chase on tomorrow. Woke up this morning to see that the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) had upgraded the convective outlook to "Slight Risk" on Thursday for areas within the V2 domain. Dew points don't look great but there is some slight southerly advection today that might bring in a little more Gulf moisture before tomorrow. Weather briefing at 10:45am this morning so we'll get our action plan then.
One of the questions I'm commonly getting is along the lines of..."Well, what do you do when there are no storms?". The simple answer to that when we're in a town like Woodward is well, nothing. The whole armada spent yesterday loitering around outside of the hotel staring up at the clear blue skies. We played some frisbee, the official non-contact sport of V2. Adam French has some nice action shots of our frisbee game before we left the NWC on Monday (http://afterburnersandcampfires.blogspot.com/). So frisbee, a few 2 hr meals, reading, speculating on where we might go, watching the locals drive through the parking lot and stare at our vehicles...that about sums it up.
Some of you have pointed out that I don't seem to keen on the plain states. That's probably an accurate assessment but to be fair there are some nice things out here. The people are really nice. They don't speed. They stop at yellow lights. They know how to yield. Some of the open prairie is breathtakingly beautiful. Would I like to ever live here? No. But I can appreciate those who do.
That's about all I've got for now. We're all holding our breath that we'll get the order to travel today to be in position for a play tomorrow. Anything is better than nothing right?
