V2 Has Been Busy

Hi All,
I know I haven't posted since foreshadowing the outbreak on Monday. V2 has been operating at full speed ahead for the last few days and I just haven't had the time or energy. I will try to do a full write up on my experience Monday (with pictures) in the future but for now just let me say that it was harrowing. NSSL1 and NSSL2 spent most of the evening hours dodging storm after storm. Seeing some of the destruction that the tornadoes did was pretty shocking. We spent the night (without power) in Shawnee OK which was just slightly north of the tornado path that originated in Norman and tracked east along I-40.

Yesterday we operated in W OK with moderate results. We "chased" one cell that died after about an hour and the full armada later got on another cell around sunset. The later storm showed impressive mid-level rotation on radar but the storm was mostly elevated and lower returns didn't show any rotation at all. A decent amount of probes and sticknets directly intercepted the cell and the radars seem to be in good position as well.

Today we're back out in W OK trying to make a play on the dry line as storms are expected to develop later this afternoon. Low level helicity doesn't look great but we'll give it a shot. Right now we're killing time in a Super 8 parking lot...life is grand on the road.

Adios,
Casey
